Putin gifts luxury Aurus car to North Korea’s Kim Jong

Kim Jong Un received a high-end Russian-made vehicle from President Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has presented North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with a luxurious Russian-made vehicle.

According to Pyongyang’s official media, Mr. Kim’s closest advisers received the limousine on Sunday.

Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, subsequently confirmed the gift, describing it as an Aurus, a full-sized luxury vehicle similar to Mr Putin’s.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the two internationally isolated countries have developed strong ties.

North Korea is believed to be supplying Russia with artillery, rockets, and ballistic missiles for the conflict, despite UN sanctions on both nations. Both parties deny breaking the penalties.

Mr. Putin invited Mr. Kim to the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East last September, marking his first travel overseas in four years.

During the visit, the North Korean leader examined Mr Putin’s Aurus Senat limousine and was asked to ride in the rear seat. They also exchanged firearms as gifts.

Kim Jong-un is thought to be an automobile fanatic, with a collection of exotic foreign vehicles.

According to the North Korean state news agency KCNA, Kim’s sister Yo Jong stated that the “gift serves as a clear demonstration of the special personal relations between the top leaders” of the two nations.

However, South Korea’s Foreign Ministry claimed the gift violated UN Security Council sanctions on North Korea, which ban the supply of certain types of vehicles, including luxury cars.

According to Pyongyang’s official media, Kim’s top aides received the limousine on Sunday, as per BBC.
