NBA player Bryn Forbes arrested for alleged assault on family member

Bryn Forbes' arrest came one year after his incarceration for misdemeanour assault

Bryn Forbes, a 30-year-old former NBA player who formerly played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, was arrested on Tuesday on a third-degree felony charge of assault after allegedly strangling and choking a family member.

Forbes was sent to jail in Bexar County. According to a prison spokesperson, he was still being detained as of Tuesday afternoon on a $7,500 bail. Furthermore, it was unclear whether Forbes had hired legal counsel, according to Fox News.

According to a preliminary report from San Antonio police, officers responded to a complaint on Monday at 2:17 am. Forbes is accused of beating a 30-year-old woman known as “an ex-significant other” who managed to flee and contact police.

Forbes fled the scene before police arrived, but he was apprehended later.

In addition, Forbes was arrested by police in February of last year on suspicion of assault inflicting bodily harm, a misdemeanor. He was believed to be seeing the woman he reportedly hit after a verbal altercation became violent.

Police reported that the woman required medical care.
