Apple’s foldable iPhone could land as soon as 2026

Apple's foldable marvel is predicted to arrive around 2026-2027

Apple may release a new foldable by 2026. It’s been discussed for a long, but there haven’t been any photographs or anything, just sketches in patents.

The most recent speculation, according to a Korean website named The Elec via MacRumors, is that this foldable phone will be available in 2026 or 2027.

This next Apple phone is rumored to feature a screen size of 7 to 8 inches, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is 7.6 inches.

If this is correct, Apple’s foldable device will have a book-like design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold, rather than the flip-phone appearance of the smaller Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Here’s the twist: The Elec is unsure if this will be a foldable iPhone or an iPad. If it’s an iPad, it might replace the iPad Mini, although Apple is also rumored to be developing a new iPad Mini with a different screen.

It’s a little puzzling, especially because the impending iPad Mini 7 lacks an OLED screen. Will Apple truly unveil an OLED iPad Mini first, potentially in 2025, followed by a foldable iPad shortly after?

According to The Elec, Apple is still deciding whether to release a foldable iPhone or iPad. Details, such as particular features, remain unknown, giving the impression that this project is in its early phases.

Interestingly, Samsung Display and LG Display have been delivering Apple prototypes of 7-inch and 8-inch panels since last year. Samsung Display, which has worked on the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip, is anticipated to be the major screen provider.

Even if the disclosures seem thrilling, it’s important to note that this information is still in its early phases. So, while it’s tempting to think Apple will release a foldable gadget in 2026 or 2027, things might change along the way.
